Welcome to Woodland West Elementary and the 2011—2012 school year!
As I reflect over my past eight years as principal of this wonderful school, there are several areas I feel will give you an insight as to who we are. The faculty, staff, students, parents, administrators, and community helped to bring a school that was in corrective action eight years ago to a school that has received exemplary growth and recognized growth the last two years. During this same time the School Performance Score has increased over thirty points, we survived Hurricane Katrina, and have become part of the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP). The TAP process has set the course to ensure that this school will continue to move forward. It has taught us a belief that we live by every day. “It is not about you or me; it is about student achievement.” This drives instruction, staff development, and keeps us focused with always having student achievement first and foremost. At this school everyone works for the students. All of this was accomplished through hard work and a collaborative effort of all parties involved.
